The surveys were aimed at assessing and quantifying the estuarine fish population. A Water Framework Directive compatible beach seine net, deployed from a RIB and hand hauled onto the beach, was used during the surveys in 2013 and 2014. This method is the Environment Agency standard, and therefore allows comparison with EA surveys conducted in adjacent estuaries. Qualitative records of the sediment and survey conditions were recorded. true Two Eastern IFCA generated datasets are avaliable for 2013 and 2014 surveys using a EA WFD seine net. The locations of the net hauls were: 1.Opposite Waldringfield Golf Course (52.068206N, 1.331098E) 2.Ramsholt Arms (52.022952N, 1.361189E) 3. Shingle Beach opposite Felilxstowe Ferry (51.98911111N, 1.393913889E) As part of the surveys, details of sea state, wind conditions and a qualitative assessment of the sediment type were also recorded at each haul location. Fish caught in the nets were identified to species level and total lenght measured to 0.5 centimeters. The total number of individuals per fish species were counted and sub-samples measured to generate size frequency distributions for populations located in the upper, middle and lower proportions of the Deben estuary.
