dataset
Counts were made of Scarlet-and-gold star corals (Balanophyllia regia) and the Devonshire Cup Coral (Caryophyllia smithii) at the main monitoring sites located in the Devils Kitchen.
Two people carried out the survey of cup corals at as low a tide as possible, aiming to do it at the spring and autumn equinox, as these should have been the lowest tides of the year. Aim of measuring just one site during one low tide so as not to rush counts and measurements.
Photographs were taken of each site for reference and to label and count accurately.
Wire quadrats were used to accurately count the corals in a given area.
