Record of date, fisher, fishing time (effort), weight of oysters landed, number of dredges, location and CPUE. Data is in an Excel spreadsheet. There was minimal uptake of this project as the fishers had limited time to fill in the logbooks. Similar effort and landings data were collected by SxIFCA fisheries officers during compliance duties and detailed CPUE information was collected at the start of the 2013 season (1st and 2nd November) to support the implementation of an emergency byelaw to protect the remaining stock. From 2014-2017, SxIFCA officers collected detailed catch per unit effort data during the fishing season. 2018 onwards there were too few oysters to allow the fishery to open. It is a voluntary logbook scheme with no quality assurance except for comparisons between fishers logbooks. No consistency or randomised selection of sites or dates for fishing activity. No GPS positions for fishing activity, just local names of the fishing grounds within Chichester Harbour. Landings data in 2013 to nearest 0.5kg as weighed at point of sale from fisher to merchant, other weights: fishery officer counted number of bags and weight was estimated.
