Locations of sampling events were originally recorded using compass bearing and conspicuous landmarks and distances from these. They were converted to latitude and longitude by Pennington et al. (1998) using Admiralty chart 2094, Kirkcudbright to Mull of Galloway and Isle of Man (1978) and Decca chart L(D3)45 Clogher Head to Burrow Head (1957), and plotted using the DMAP package.
