This survey was collated by MarLIN as part of a data collation contract for species on the provisional list of nationally important marine features. Between the 27th and 31st July 1985, 230 oysters per site were dredged from the Calshot, Browndown, Lymington and Sowley beds. In 1986, samplings were made on the Calshot beds on four occasions spanning the main part of the breeding season, i.e. mid July to early September. On 21st July and 11th August 1987, about 500 oysters were sampled from Thorn Knoll and from Sowley.
