In 1997 a further 8 transects were performed with 3-6 quadrats in each. Plant density, blades per plant and the number of blades showing evidence of decay were recorded within a 1m sq quadrat at the shallow, middle and deepest parts of the bed. Associated species were also recorded. The survey work was carried out for the Helford Voluntary Marine Conservation Area Group, with funding from World Wildlife Fund for Nature UK and English Nature.
