The survey carried out in 2009 was to update the information gathered in 2008. In this way any changes in potting effort can be highlighted.The North Devon potting fishermen had shown great willingness to take part in the 2008 survey. To build on this willingness the fishermen were again contacted in 2009, and forms and charts were sent out to update the information previously received. Some forms were given out to vessels owners and skippers at their home ports. Returned forms and chart information were collated and data were inputted and analysed using Microsoft Excel and charts were mapped on GIS using MapInfo. Boat details, home port and number of pots being worked by the vessels were also recorded from these returns. All information was collated in a database.
