A Day Grab (0.1m2) was used for all sampling events. Sediment samples were collected and sieved through a 1mm mesh sieve. The faunal composition was collected and identified. Direct counts were used for all species present. Separate samples were taken for physical, chemical and microbiological analyses A total of 132 macroinvertebrate species were recorded from the 22 sites of the Exeter Disposal Ground.
