The results of that project, and the associated data audit variation, suggested that several other areas existed within the UK where sufficient data could support similar work. The west coast of Britain was identified as one area where any information derived on existing palaeolandscapes would have a significant impact on our understanding of the Mesolithic and, potentially, the Palaeolithic in England and Wales, whilst also informing the archaeological records of Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man.
