This report focuses on the proposed outer Morecambe Bay, Shell Flat and Lune Deep area. The report encompasses the collation of existing data and gives each piece of literature a confidence rating. This also includes a percentage score relating to its MESH (Mapping European Seabed Habitats) confidence. Once the existing data had been collated and gaps within the survey area were identified. A survey was conducted of the areas for which further data and information was needed. The survey included acoustic track data and groundtruthing (i.e. drop-down video and grab sampling). Particle size analysis (PSA) was also undertaken. The data was then used to assign biotopes and to fill gaps in the existing knowledge. Finally, all of the data presented is considered in the context of the overall report aim - to assess the sites suitability as a SAC.
