Under The Water Environment (Water Framework Directive) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2017, a key objective is that DAERA must assess ecological status in all waters. According to the WFD ecological status should be assessed based on several biological and hydro morphological elements as well as chemical and physico-chemical elements supporting the biological elements. The assessment of these quality elements for 2021 are available online. Laboratory analysis was carried out in accordance with agreed WFD methodology and with appropriate quality assurance schemes when applicable, such as NE Atlantic Marine Biological Analytical Quality Control (NMBAQC), Proficiency Testing (PT) and Ring Testing (RT). Classification results are quality assured prior to publication.
