The purpose of the surveys was to use a standard method (that was repeatable) to gather data to assess the conservation status of the site. By using repeatable methods it allowed for future sampling of the site and the possibilty of comparing the data with that gathered in the future. The data includes biotope diversity and distribution along with characteristic species, comparison between transects and species abundances (gathered using quadrats).
