Quadrats (0.25 m sq.) were recorded along the transect at 5m, 10m or 20m intervals. This was continued down the shore at intervals to the furthest extent at extreme low tide. Within each quadrat the number of certain species was counted, however, if the number was too great then an estimate or percentage covered was given.
