The survey was undertaken by ERT (Scotland) Ltd, on behalf of West of Scotland Water and defined the current state of the marine environment in the vicinity of the proposed outfall. A summer and winter fieldwork program was carried out which Included recording of hydrographical conditions, current metering, collection and analysis of water and seabed sediment samples. Seventeen stations were sampled using a 0.1 m2 Van Veen grab; three grabs were taken at each station. In addition two grabs were taken from four stations as representative stations. Samples were sieved on a 1.0 mm mesh, identified to species level and species abundance was recorded. This data was collected by MarLIN for Defra/NBN contract CRO313.
