Nominal cross lines at 2000m spacing were acquired across each area for tidal processing and sub-bottom interpretation QC. The vessel was equipped with Applanix POS MV 320 inertial GPS system, Reson 7101 multibeam, Klein 3000 side scan sonar, G882 magnetometer, Sonardyne Scout USBL and Applied Acoustics Boomer sub-bottom profiler systems. Chartwell was mobilised on 22nd July and demobilised from site on the 27th July.The vessel was mobilised at Liverpool’s Canada Dock and transited to Poole. The vessel operated from Poole Town Quay: an approximate 1 hour transit from the inshore end of Area 3. Data acquisition commenced on the 23rd July 2012. At this point a series of data gaps, primarily due to fixed gear fishing activity, together with data re-shoots, were identified as outstanding. These re-shoots were required as the vessel attempted to acquire maximum data coverage during all marginal sea-states available. Subsequently these areas were surveyed by MV Freja. MV Freja MV Freja was originally tasked with undertaking Areas 2, 6 and 7, which were surveyed as part of the current Scope of Work, whilst the remaining areas were run as a separate phase of the project. Main survey line run-direction was parallel with the longitudinal axes of each site, at 50m line separation. Crosslines were run at a nominal 2000m separation. The vessel was equipped with Applanix POS MV 320 inertial GPS system, GeoSwath GS+ interferometric sonar, Klein 3000 side scan sonar, G882 magnetometer, Sonardyne Scout USBL and Applied Acoustics Boomer sub-bottom profiler systems. For the initial survey period the vessel was partly mobilised at Liverpool Marina and then road transported to Salterns Marina, where the mobilisation continued until 22nd July 2012. The vessel operated from Salterns Marina: an approximate 1 hour transit from the inshore end of Area 4. Data acquisition commenced on the 23rd July 2012. On the 27th July MV Freja was completely demobilised after a review of the imminent/on-going poor weather. However, in early August the decision was taken to remobilise and attempt to complete all outstanding survey operations at all sites during any periods of favourable weather. The survey team was “stood-down” during agreed poor weather periods, with the vessel remaining permanently mobilised in Salterns Marina, complete with a survey team on stand-by at Osiris Projects’ head office. The vessel was demobilised from site on 22nd September 2012. The survey was undertaken during the following periods; ? 22nd July to 27th July 2012 ? 9th August to 12th August 2012 ? 18th August to 24th August 2012 ? 6th September to 10th September 2012 ? 14th September to 22nd September 2012. The side scan sonar winch cable was changed on MV Freja, to enable data collection in deeper water. Some minor interference was noted on the sonar data collected by MV Freja, but this did not compromise the data interpretation. MV Pulsar MV Pulsar was tasked to conduct survey lines at 40m (offshore) and 20m (Nearshore) line spacing for area 8, with all sensors run on all survey lines. The vessel was equipped with CNav 2050M GPS system, TSS Meridian Gyro, GeoSwath GS+ interferometric sonar, Klein 3000 side scan sonar, G882 magnetometer, Sonardyne Scout USBL and Applied Acoustics Boomer sub-bottom profiler systems. Pulsar was mobilised on 26th February and demobilised from site on the 3rd March. The vessel was mobilised at Lymington Yacht Haven and operated from the same location: an approximate 40 minute transit from the survey area. Data acquisition commenced on the 28th February 2013.
