Two grabs were attempted at sites 51-60 and one at all other sites. All samples were treated separately. Samples were washed through a 1mm sieve on board the vessel to remove the bulk of the sediment and fauna retained in labeled pots containing 10% buffered formalin for later identification. Dredge samples were taken using a Naturalist Dredge lined with 4mm nylon netting. A distance of approximately 100m was dredged and where possible animals were identified and counted on site. Unidentified species and representative samples were retained in labeled pots containing 10% formalin for subsequent identification.
