At each distinct habitat the substrate and dominant/characterisitc species were identified using the MNCR methodology along with the site locations. Relative species abundances were estimated using the SACFOR scale. Also, sub-surface sediment sampling was carried out via sieving with a 0.5mm mesh to obtain relative abundances for infaunal species present. Biotopes were then defined following the MNCR classification methods. This allowed for a map of the biotopes present to be produced.
