Locations of coastal petroleum sites were derived from industry information compared with Ordnance Survey maps. Power stations were identified by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) Digest of UK Energy Statistics (DUKES) report 2015 with intake location taken from Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA)'s coastal abstraction data. Two additional sites were identified at Invergordon and Sullom Voe via company websites. The data was manually thinned to be viewed at a maximum scale of 1:250,000.
