It is in a water depth of 112.5 m. The Maclure field comprises two wells and has been developed as a subsea tie back to the nearby (2.2 km to the west) Maersk operated Gryphon ‘A’ Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The Environmental Impact Assessment within this statement reviews any impact from an increase in production consent applied for the period 2008 – 2010. BP is in the process of applying for revised production consent for the Maclure field for 2008 – 2010. The application indicates that oil production will increase by more than the 500 m3/d oil/ 500,000m3 gas threshold stipulated by in the Offshore Petroleum Production and Pipelines (Assessment of Environmental Effects) Regulations 1999. BP is therefore required to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to assess the potential environmental impact from this increase to production, compared to present production levels to support the revised production consent application. This Environmental Statement (ES) reports the findings of the EIA. The assessment includes the consideration of potential effects on the environment associated with an increase in existing production. This EIA relates solely to the environmental impacts associated with increased production (as the specific environmental impacts relating to the drilling of any future additional wells and installation of subsea structures will be covered in individual PON15 applications or separate ESs as required).
