This is a multi-vessel survey and this metadata record describes the Research vessel Scotia's sampling component of the survey conducted in 2015 and covered sea areas Rockall and west coast of Scotland. This trawl survey followed a set of protocols drawn up by an industry science survey-planning group made up of Marine Scotland scientists and fishing representatives. These protocols share much in common with the sampling regimes described in Marine Scotland standing instructions for demersal trawl surveys.

Database - 55 deployments of BT 196 Monk Trawl (90m sweep) - CSV/Database - times, positions, depths, sea state, gear parameters, species caught, length distribution and total weight caught, Database - 2564 records of biological measurements - CSV/Database - Length, weight, sex, age
dataset
Catch rate, length-frequency, distribution, sex and age composition data for anglerfish, megrim, four-spot megrim and cod were collected throughout the survey. At Rockall, catch rate, length-frequency and distribution data was collected for all species. Additional biological data was collected for selected species as required. Temperature data were collected to characterise the species' environment. Equipment used: BT195 Anglerfish bottom trawl with 400mm Rockhopper ground gear and tickler chain.
