The first survey was undertaken between the 8th and 9th September and the second was undertaken between the 2nd and 4th October 2010. The surveys utilised the “Jubilee Spirit” , a Grimsby based commercial demersal trawler whose skipper has experience fishing the area. The trawl start times and positions were taken when the winch stopped paying out the gear. Similarly, the trawl end times and positions were taken when hauling of the gear commenced. Sampling was undertaken from the 8th to the 9th September 2010. A total of ten otter trawls and eleven beam trawls were completed. It should be noted that the otter trawl tow at station OT12 was omitted due to the presence of fishing gear and the otter and beam trawl tow at station BT08 was not undertaken due to rough ground and the presence of peaks on the seabed. The start and end times, durations and coordinates of each otter and beam trawl tow are given in Table 3.1 and Table 3.2 and the tow tracks are illustrated in Figure 3.1 & Figure 3.2 respectively.
