The following baseline description is therefore based on a range of data and information derived from the following sources: • Annual catch, effort and value data by port, by ICES (International Council for the Exploration of the Sea) rectangle, by species and method, as compiled and collated by the MFA (Marine Fisheries Agency) • Satellite tracking and aerial and surface craft surveillance sighting data as recorded by the MFA • Radar vessel traffic surveys • Consultation with local fishermen and officers of the KESFC (Kent & Essex Sea Fisheries Committee)
