This concept involves integrating the development of power generation from small, undeveloped gas reserves with that from wind turbines in offshore generating stations. The power generated from both wind and gas is then cabled back to shore to feed into the national electricity grid network. Two such gas accumulations have been discovered in UK Oil and Gas concession Blocks 113/28a and 113/29a and b, and have been identified as suitable for a pilot project to demonstrate the feasibility of this type of co-development project (the Ormonde Project, or Project). Both Blocks are located in the eastern Irish Sea off the Cumbrian coastline about 10 kilometres west of Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness and have been named Ormonde South and Ormonde North respectively.
