The aim of the survey was twofold: firstly to satisfy the consent conditions stipulated within the Marine Licence (number: L/2013/00076/5) issued by the Marine Management Organisation and secondly to provide baseline survey data of foundation basis and cable routes, for engineering purposes. The survey was conducted between the 1st July and 20th September 2015. The latest models incorporate a number of advances over previous versions, including automatic roll compensation and the ability to increase the number of beams from 256 to 512, allowing a greater density of data to be collected, an important factor in high–resolution surveying. The beams can be further compressed in Flex-Mode to give even greater density and also be steered to the side, an advantage when surveying structures such as offshore wind turbines. 2.3.5 Reson SeaBat 7125 The SeaBat 7125 combines the 7125’s celebrated sonar head with an advanced data processor. Using 512 dynamically focused receive beams, the SeaBat 7125 cuts a 140-degree swath across the seafloor. The 7125 is capable of measuring 512 depths per ping, up to 50 Hz, with 0.5° across track and 1° along-track beam width, between 45° and 140° opening angle.
