The principal aim of the surveys was to provide comprehensive information over a proposed wind farm area and consequent cable route corridor to the shore for use in the design, installation and subsequent maintenance of the wind farm. The detailed objectives were to investigate aspects of the bathymetry, geomorphology, lithology, seabed features and the general environment within the survey areas. Single beam echosounder data, side-scan sonar data, magnetometer and sub-bottom profiler data were required from all main survey lines spaced at 50m within all areas. Cross lines were also required nominally at 500m spacing for verification of the primary data and tidal reductions.
