The surveys were required to support the safe emplacement of a jack-up vessel adjacent to the WTG for maintenance purposes. In some instances, this compliance will not be feasible. True series Survey operations were carried out using the vessel EGS Pioneer on a 24-hour basis. A vessel induction was carried out upon personnel arrival on the survey vessel. The vessel mobilised alongside Lowestoft on the morning of 9th March 2017, before slipping ropes at 09:05. The SSS and winch were tested successfully outside Lowestoft, before the vessel sailed to site later that day. All members of crew and the vessel master were involved with tool box talks prior to the deployment and recovery of the SSS and sound velocity profiler (SVP). When using the back-deck area on board the vessel, all personnel wore full PPE including a life jacket with PLB. Data acquisition began at 23:56 on the 9th March 2017, and was deemed complete the following day at 04:00. This represented the end of survey operations, and the vessel began the transit back to Lowestoft for demobilisation. The original survey plan was to utilise the AGO winch installed on the EGS Pioneer. This was successfully tested outside Lowestoft, but problems were encountered once the vessel arrived at site. The decision was made to change to a soft tow configuration for the side scan sonar and the SSS positioning was subsequently verified.
