The study was carried out by Regeneris and it describes the existing environment with regard to socio-economics and assesses the potential impacts of the Offshore Development area of the proposed Rhiannon Wind Farm (RWF). This study is closely linked to Chapter 13 Commercial Fisheries; Chapter 14 Shipping and Navigation; and Chapter 16 Seascape, Landscape and Visual Amenity of the Stage 2 Preliminary Environmental Information (Stage 2 PEI) and should be read in conjunction with Appendix 19.1 Environmental Assessment; Appendix 19.2 Local Area Profiles; and Appendix 19.3 Tourism Literature Review. No primary research was undertaken as part of the assessment, though in some cases, use was made of the findings from other chapters of the Stage 2 PEI report where detailed surveys were undertaken. Data sources used for the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland were different to the other comparator areas. This is because each of these areas has its own national statistical offices. For consistency, this meant that it was not always possible to present data for the latest available year. There may also be methodological differences in the way that these agencies collect socio-economic data, meaning a comparison of study areas is not always on a consistent basis. Data was presented for the period 2003 to 2012 where possible.
