This was needed in order to evalutate the potential impacts of Offshore Wind Farms on these species which requires not only the number of birds present but also their flight patterns. Radar recordings were backed up by visual observations, particulary around dawn and dusk. Observations were made during two periods of 6 days each, from 22nd February to 3rd March and from 11th March to 18th March, all in 2006.
