An alternative route approximately 150m to the west looked promising as the Clacton-on-Sea slipway gave ready access for heavy plant and equipment and looked to be a logical location to pull the proposed cables ashore. It quickly became apparent that the perceived problems at the proposed location would be readily solved by use of directional drilling which would provide an environmentally acceptable solution to the problem of drawing the cable from the beach landing point to the top of the cliff and tie-in to a proposed building.
