The rationale behind these surveys is to determine whether any debris/obstructions have been left on the seabed, or significant changes to the seabed profile have occurred as a result of the construction activity. Emu Limited was commissioned by Kentish Flats Ltd. to carry out hydrographic surveys of the wind farm site and export cable route in order to achieve the above requirement. Between the 23rd September and 8th October 2005, the survey vessel Emu Surveyor, in conjunction with a single-beam echosounder and sidescan sonar, was used to assess the post-construction seabed conditions across the windfarm site and the export cable route. This series describes the post-construction survey, and provides analysis of the data sets collected and compares these with the existing pre-construction data to identify any new debris or alterations to the seabed profile.
