(GEL) provided underwater noise monitoring surveys during the construction phase of the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm for Dudgeon Offshore Wind Ltd. The aim of the underwater noise monitoring survey was to validate predictions developed within the Environmental Statement (ES) (Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm, 2009), Supplementary Environmental Information (SEI) (Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm, 2013), and finalised in the Marine Mammal Mitigation Plan (MMMP) (Statoil, 2015) with regard to the magnitude of construction noise and to assess ADD sound from the piling operations. The measurements and data analysis were completed during March and April 2016. The report in this series describes the results from the underwater noise monitoring surveys during the installation of the first eight monopile foundations. Also included within the report is a description of the methodology and data analysis performed. True series In order to accomplish the requirements of the Marine Licence outlined in Section 1.2.1 the monitoring specification was developed by GEL and DOWL and approved by the MMO and Centre of Environment, Fish and Aquaculture Science (Cefas). The monitoring methodology was designed in order to provide a characterisation of the sound SL (piling) and an assessment of the variation in noise level with distance from the piling operation, to predict impact zones around the piling activity and to verify the predicted sound propagation of the ADD (Section 4.5). As a result of operational issues, described in Section 4.1, monitoring occurred throughout the installation of the first eight monopile foundations in order to achieve robust data pertaining to pre- and post-piling background noise levels, ADD operational noise and piling noise, encompassing a frequency range of 2 Hz - 192 kHz.
