The resulting study, carried out by RPS Energy, was based upon a suspended sediment survey, with fifteen sediment traps deployed at 100m, 1km and 5km distance from the drilled monopole locations. The survey was carried out in two phases, relating to the suspended materials recovered after 8 days, and the drilling of one monopile foundation (LN02), and a longer 30 day deployment following the combined effects of partially drilling 5 foundations. Survey operations included some preliminary seabed sampling and photography at and around some of the monopile locations prior to and immediately after drilling. In each row, 5 sediment trap locations were positioned in order to record a widening plume heading along the dominant flood and subsequent residual current direction, as predicted from the dispersion model (ABPmer 2006). Two sediment traps were deployed at each of the monitoring locations to allow for material to be captured and measured over both a short term deployment (the duration of one drilling cycle), and a longer term deployment (the duration of three or more drilling cycles). This report outlines the results obtained from both the initial phase 1 deployment, recovered after the completion of drilling at the first pile (LN02) location, and the longer phase 2 deployment following the partial drilling at five wells at the end of the drill cycle. In addition to these distant positions, an additional trap was deployed 100m south of the LN02 discharge pipe and recovered on completion of the drill operation.
