The most suitable instrument for these parameters was considered to be the Valeport 730D. Two instruments were used, one to the west of the Bank, and one to the east. Each Valeport was bolted into a bed frame, looking upward, with the turbidity sensor strapped to the upper bars. A rope bridle was attached to the top of the frame to aid lowering, which led to a 50m length of rope to be used as a groundline. Once the frame was in position, the groundline was laid long the bed, with a short chain used as a weight for the other end. Also attached to the chain was a length of rope with a few small buoys at the top, designed to reach the surface at low water, so that the moorings could be found for recovery.
