The initial survey commenced at 10:20 hrs on Thursday 26 August 2004 and was completed at 10:45 hrs on Thursday 9 September 2004. The second survey commenced at 14:20 hrs on Thursday 30 September 2004 and was completed at 15:30 hrs on Thursday 14 October 2004. The primary objective of the surveys was to identify the real-time routeing of vessels and the level of vessel activity at the proposed wind farm sites. This was achieved by recording in real-time the positions of vessels within range of the radar, supplemented by observation of vessels within visual range to obtain information on type and size.
