This information will help CREL in determining the most efficient method for trenching given the soil conditions. This technical note has been carried out based on boreholes and CPT’s from the main Lincs Site investigation. It should be noted that if analysis of turbine locations LS70 – LS75 is required then this can be carried out, assuming that RPSE is provided with the appropriate borehole / CPT data. Shear strengths have been extrapolated from turbine specific site investigation boreholes and to provide information on the potential ground conditions along proposed cable routes. A table has been constructed to show: 1. The thickness of Holocene seabed sediments interpreted along cable routes 2. The minimum and maximum shear strength of clay material within the upper 0.5m along cable routes 3. The minimum and maximum shear strength of clay material between 0.5m and 1m along cable routes 4. The minimum and maximum shear strength of clay material within the upper 2.5m along cable routes 5. The depth of chalk material if this is found within the upper 1m along cable routes This Memorandum should be viewed in conjunction with, and as part of RPS Energy Technical Note (EOG0659-TN-04-04) entitled “Lincs Wind Farm: Variation in Soil Shear Strength with Depth”.
