It describes the baseline condition of saltmarsh vegetation found along the export cable routes between kilometer point (KP) 0,2 and KP1.2. This baseline survey has been designed to allow a comparison of vegetation structure and composition following export cable installation works, due to commence in May 2016. It also provides a summary of the results of vegetation surveys undertaken in association with the 2014 geotechnical investigation works on the saltmarsh. All three surveyors are botanists with experience of surveying in saltmarsh habitat in the locality. The surveys were undertaken during a period of low high-tides (the tidal range was between 1.8-5.8 m) which meant that the majority of the saltmarsh vegetation was exposed over much of the survey window. The autumn Spring tides occurred earlier in the month and there was evidence of significant amounts of strandline material washed up and deposited in the upper saltmarsh.
