Field survey: In total 20 sampling stations were identified and sampled for monitoring purposes (Figure 2.1): 15 along the export cable route and five reference sites. These sampling stations incorporated the 15 pre construction survey sites sampled in 2011 for the GFS3 characterisation study and an additional five stations sampled as part of the monitoring programme at GFS 1 and 2. The exact position of some of the pre construction sampling stations were slightly modified as they either fell within infrastructure exclusions zones (7, 8, & 14) or overlapped archaeological exclusion zones (station 11). The distance moved was minimised as far as possible and efforts were made to keep the sampling stations within a similar sediment type sampled in the pre construction survey. Drop down video: On deployment at each video transect a comprehensive video log was recorded noting position, depth, substrate and conspicuous biota. Upon completion of the survey the videos were reviewed and checked to confirm the description of the locations as part of Envision's quality assurance procedures since there are practical difficulties in viewing and note-taking in real-time.
