The findings will be used for comparison with pre-construction surveys carried out in 2010 in order to assess the potential of the wind farm to act in enhancing or aggregating fish and shellfish. Any natural or manmade structure in the marine environment that stands in relief from the substratum will generally act as a fish aggregation device (FAD). This phenomenon is regularly exploited by sea anglers and commercial fishermen alike when fishing from piers and around wrecks and reefs. The document in this series provides the results of the autumn fish survey carried out in November and December 2014. Methodologies and catch data results have been provided, however no in-depth analysis of the data has been undertaken as this will be carried out after the first year of post construction (i.e. operational year one) fish surveys are completed. In addition, special dispensation was obtained from North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (NEIFCA) to set lobster pots and to trawl within their district. No dispensation was required from the MMO as the vessel chartered was not a commercial fishing vessel and undersized mesh was not used. As the post construction fish surveys are required to investigate changes in the fish and commercial shellfish populations in and around the TOWF site, the same methodologies as employed during the pre-construction survey (using the same sampling stations and carried out at the same time of year) were utilised in order to allow comparisons to be made. Three different surveys will be carried out over 12 months, using different fishing gear, to assess the species present and their distribution in and around the wind farm site. The survey methodologies agreed in the Post Construction Environmental Monitoring Plan included:  Trawl survey using prawn/clean ground trawl (a type of otter trawl);  Potting survey whereby baited parlour pots set over 24 hours; and  Static netting survey using gill nets set over 24 hours. The distribution of electro-sensitive species will be assessed through the quarterly trawling surveys, although electro-sensitive species captured by other fishing methods shall be added to the electro-sensitive catch data. All surveys, other than the trawl surveys, will be carried out biannually (twice per year) in summer and winter; trawl surveys will be undertaken quarterly within the periods of marine seasons (Table 1.1). As surveys at sea are vulnerable to delay due to bad weather the surveying at regular intervals may not always be possible. Therefore each survey takes place within a specified marine season where winter is defined as January to March, spring as April to June, summer is July to September, and autumn is October to December.
