Contradictions exist between the data sets that have led to uncertainties in the expected geological conditions. This is thought to be mostly due to erosion of the anticlinal flexure in that there is uncertainty in the degree of erosion that occurred to this feature prior to more recent overlying deposits being formed. Additionally, the occurrence of acoustic blanking has made interpretation of the geophysical data difficult in places. Geotechnical samples are required across the site to clarify these contradictions and confirm the geological and geotechnical conditions. This geotechnical risk assessment report should be read in conjunction with report 03144-01-00 (Ref. 1) in order to gain an appreciation of the site geology and predicted geotechnical conditions. Cross-sectional profiles and a schematic of the geological model are presented in Appendices 1 and 2 of report 03144-01-00 (Ref. 1). For convenience the geotechnical units and properties identified from the desk-top study are summarised in Section 4 of this report.
