The purpose of the investigation was twofold: 1) To see whether the boomer penetrated sufficiently into the seabed for foundation design purposes 2) If subsequent sub-bottom data was to be acquired what instrument would be suitable for the task. The boomer sub-bottom data files were played back through Coda replay and the lowest depth reflector mapped. All lines were reviewed (a total of 13 files) together with a brief replay of the side scan sonar data The Sub-bottom data was exported from Coda and imported into ArcGIS for review against Osiris multibeam image of the seabed. The depths picked for rockhead could then be compared to the sea floor features, in particular areas of bedrock and or sub-rock (bedrock close to but not actually outcropping on the seafloor i.e. a veneer of sediment overlies the rock).
