London Array 2 covers an area of approximately 15 x 7 km, consisting of 41 sites with the dimensions 150 x 150 m. Seabed sediments across the area generally comprise of sands and gravel with sand waves occurring extensively across large parts of the survey area. The seabed topography is dominated by the Long Sand and Kentish Knock sand banks which extend south-west to north-east through the project site. The seabed is characterised by localised current induced sediment bed forms. Sand waves of up to 5 m high occur of the flanks and crests of the aforementioned two major sand banks. Water depths within the project site vary between nominally 0 m and 23.5 m below Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT). A comprehensive bathymetrical and geophysical survey of each planned turbine site was conducted by MMT in 2012. The reports summarise the conditions within the survey sites with regards to; bathymetry and seabed or buried features (e.g. obstacles, manmade targets and cables) detected during the survey. - Side Scan Sonar Data - Magnetometer Data - Multichannel Seismic Data The results from the bathymetrical and geophysical survey are presented within the enclosed report and appendices. The GNSS-tide is obtained by post-processing GNSS-data collected by an Applanix PosMV 320 system. The GNSS-data is post-processed in the software POSPac MMS. Both the POS MV and POSPac MMS are developed by Applanix. The output from POSPac is ellipsoidal heights with accuracies of 5 cm RMS and are corrected for motion and referenced to the multibeam reference point. By incorporating the VORF model into the process the heights will be referenced to LAT. The VORF model is developed for the UK area and has accuracy within a decimetre. Comparisons with the closest water-level station have been done to ensure that the data is levelled correctly. This tidal reduction methodology encompasses all vertical movement of the vessel, including tidal effect and vessel movement due to waves and currents. The short variations in height are identified as heave and the long variations as tide. This methodology is very robust since it is not limited by the filter settings defined online and provides very good results in complicated mixed wave and swell patterns. The vessel navigation is exported into a post processed format, SBET (Smoothed Best Estimated Trajectory) that is then applied onto the MBES-data. The methodology has proven to be very accurate as it accounts for any changes in height caused by changes in atmospheric pressure, storm surge, squat, loading or any other effect not accounted for in a tidal prediction. Time Datum: UTC will be used on all survey systems on board the vessel. The synchronisation of the vessel’s onboard system is governed by the Pulse Per Second (PPS) and ZDA time string issued by the primary positioning system. All displays, overlays and logbooks will be annotated in UTC. Calibration: The Mobilisation and Calibration Report (101124-DON-MMT-ATR-PRO-UHRS002) details the calibrations and verifications performed for the project. The mobilisation and calibration procedure is considered a quality calibration test of all survey instruments, according to ISO 9001:2008 (SS-EN ISO 9001:2008 - section 7.6 - Control of monitoring and measuring equipment).
