Initially the surveyor carried out roving surveys which covered the whole of the Sound, but since March 2010 the methodology used has been altered to provide more focused survey effort over the DeltaStream deployment site. It is this methodology which is discussed in the following paragraphs, as it is this method which will be utilised for the remainder of the DeltaStream project. The data spans pre-consent, pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases. This site provides good coverage of Tywyn Ogof Hen on Ramsey Island whilst also providing sufficient shelter for the ornithologists during surveys. Tywyn Ogof Hen is located at the top edge of the telescope view during all surveys, therefore provides a reference point for the observer whilst undertaking the vantage point survey. The advantage of this is that a location reference can be determined for each observation. Wherever possible the surveyor will undertake at least one survey a month from Ramsey Island. The benefit of the Island vantage point is its proximity to the proposed DeltaStream location. Figure 2 shows the vantage point location (marked R) from Ramsey Island.
