OEM: IEC61400-1 will be utilised to derive the effective turbulence intensity for different turbine separations (4D, 6D, 8D and 10D). The turbine model will then be simulated in OrcaFlex operating under these turbulent conditions and the damage equivalent loads (DEL) for the turbine tower will be determined. The effects of turbine spacing on tower fatigue will then be analysed by comparing the results. Developer: The effect of turbine wakes on AEP at a farm level will be analysed using industry tools to assess the AEP effects of altering turbine spacings. A turbine with a fixed foundation will also be analysed to provide a baseline to the floating results. Due to the uncertainties surrounding floating turbine tower design and their sensitivities between the natural frequencies of the structure and excitation frequencies, the stiffness of the floating turbine tower will be altered such that various coupled frequency margins to 3P can be analysed. A DEL analysis will be completed with these altered towers to provide a better understanding of how power density effects tower fatigue for a greater scope of tower design.
