The Kentish Flats offshore wind farm is located in the North Sea off the coast of Kent, approximately 10 km north-northeast of Whitstable.
For a reliable assessment of the wind regime at a potential site it is essential to have wind data measured at the site for a minimum period of one year. Once short-term measurements have been carried out on site, it is necessary to correlate data recorded at the site with a source of long-term wind data (a nearby long-term reference meteorological station with consistent period of data, if available, or a mesoscale long-term data series), in order to estimate of the long-term wind regime at the site. It may then be necessary to horizontally and vertically extrapolate the measured wind data to the points of interest.
This series contains the wind data from 2002 - 2005 along with an explanatory wind summary report, and other associated documents.

The mast was installed in 2002. Unfortunately the mast has changed hands a few times and some data appear to be missing from 2005 to 2009 and 2011 onwards. I have also attached a full report which explains this in some detail, along with the metadata for the mast. As you can see from the report, we concluded that the 2002-2005 data period is the best to be used in any analysis, mostly because this period is wake-free. Note that I am unaware of any maintenance on this mast since 2008 and after considerable investigation I regret that we were unable to trace where or if data were recorded beyond this. Therefore, any data that are still being recorded after this date are unlikely to be in a fit state for analysis.
