Three separate surveys were undertaken: (1) a rapid survey of the whole route, (2) a survey of vegetation along five transects perpendicular to the route; and (3) a survey of each of the three saltmarsh borehole locations. This baseline survey provides data on the composition and variation in the vegetation along the proposed route and at the proposed saltmarsh borehole locations. The survey also provided information on the location of saltmarsh creeks which is relevant to route selection.
