Metadata: Saltmarsh Features of the Conwy Estuary 2001
Abstract:
This dataset consists of the results from a National Vegetation Classification (NVC) survey used as a basis for community definition in the saltmarsh habitats of the North Conwy Estuary. The principal objective of the survey was to provide a suitable base for future monitoring and also as part of CCW's commitment to reporting on the suitability of the estuary description as a Site of Special Scientific Importance (SSSI) and inclusion into the Menai Strait and Conwy Bay possible Special Area of Conservation (pSAC).

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 8626 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | Saltmarsh Features of the Conwy Estuary 2001 |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | NVC Phase 2 survey of the Conwy Estuary 2001 |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | NRW_DS109888 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 4f4c4942-4343-5764-6473-313039383838 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2001-09-24 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2001-09-29 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. |
| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Standard saltmarsh NVC survey methodology was used. Saltmarsh communities were identified by eye, supported by aerial photography, and mapped in the field onto 1:2,500 maps using the Ordnance Survey 1:10,000 Land Plan as a base map. Survey took place along transects, and boundaries were fixed using a hand held GPS to an accuracy of +/- 3m. Quadrats were recorded and species lists developed. Data collected by trained personnel, digitised by contractors, validated by NRW, corrections made by contractors, validated again by NRW, corrections made in-house in conjunction with relevant salt marsh specialist. NRW commissioned survey contributes to an NVC Saltmarsh survey collation (see 'part of' field). |
