Metadata: Bait digging evidence database
Abstract:
The bait digging evidence database (an Excel spreadsheet) contains the detailed information which forms the rationale for the report produced by ABPmer entitled ‘West, V., Robbins, K., Frost, N., Hull, S. 2022. Bait Digging Management Options. NRW Evidence Report Series Report No: 602, 74pp, NRW, Bangor’. It displays information about each of the eleven bait digging sites in Wales in order to inform potential management measures. This includes information such as sediment type, exposure, area of the site, intensity of digging, extent of Section 7 muddy gravels, recovery times of sediment, protected sites present, site access and proximity of potential displacement sites. It also contains the intensity scoring, which uses proportion of the site used for bait digging and intensity of digging to rank and prioritise the sites.

| Other details | ||
| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 8867 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | Bait digging evidence database |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | NRW_DS125288 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 4f4c4942-4343-5764-6473-313235323838 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2019-09-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2020-03-01 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | The bait digging evidence database (an Excel spreadsheet) contains the detailed information which forms the rationale for the report produced by ABPmer entitled ‘West, V., Robbins, K., Frost, N., Hull, S. 2022. | Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The bait digging evidence database contains information taken principally from a NRW commissioned report entitled; Perrins, J., Lush, M., Taylor, T., Holt, R and Bunker, F. 2020. Investigating the location and intensity of bait digging in Wales. NRW Evidence Report Series Report No: 449, 191pp, NRW, Bangor. Information has been taken from this report and used to create this summary spreadsheet. In addition to factual information from the Perrins et al report, ABPmer have used professional judgement to add additional information on site access and proximity of displacement sites. The spreadsheet also contains additional information from other sources such as protected sites (SACs and SSSIs) and their features which are located at the bait digging sites. The intensity scoring is also presented which allows the sites to be prioritised and forms the base of the accompanying report. Data was derived from bait digging intensity at each site (from Perrins et al. 2020). Data were weighted as a proportion of high, medium and low intensity and summed to determine the intensity score. The full method is presented in the accompanying report (R.3772). |
