Metadata: 1994 BioMar and English Nature (EN) Isle of Wight, benthic biotope mapping
Abstract:
The survey was conducted as part of the BioMar Project and aimed to conduct a broad-scale acoustic survey with the area, to determine the major physical habitats present, to ground truth the acoustic survey (using a video system), to match the biological features with the physical habitats and ultimately to produce colour maps of the geographic distribution and an inventory of the major biotopes present within the survey area. The report includes details of the methods (i.e. surveying and data analysis) and results, including colur maps and biotope descriptions and distributions.

The survey used acoustic surveying, undertaken using a RoxAnn processor, to produce a map of the sea floor based on it's acoustic properties.
