Metadata: 2007 Envision Mapping Morecambe Bay Mapping the marine habitats
Abstract:
Report designed to assist Natural England (NE) with decision making concerning the designation of new marine Special Areas of Conservation (SACs). This report focuses on the proposed outer Morecambe Bay, Shell Flat and Lune Deep area. The report includes a review of the literature and data available and that acquired from the resultant survey. The survey included both acoustic track data and ground-truthing such as drop-down video and grab samples. from the survey data biotope maps were drawn to fill in the gaps. Finally, all of the information presented is reviewed and its compliance with SAC site selection discussed.
Data holder:
Data Archive for Seabed Species and Habitats (DASSH)
Use constraints:
Accessible under Natural England and DASSH terms and conditions

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 2505 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2007 Envision Mapping Morecambe Bay Mapping the marine habitats |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | a7f6da849f93a3b3b9a23dbc3d8e0596 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | NATENG000258 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2007-10-15 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2007-10-21 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Report designed to asssist Natural England (NE) with decision making concerning the designation of new marine Sepcial Areas of Conservation (SACs). This report focuses on the proposed outer Morecambe Bay, Shell Flat and Lune Deep area. The report encompasses the collation of existing data and gives each piece of literature a confidence rating. This also includes a percentage score relating to its MESH (Mapping European Seabed Habitats) confidence. Once the existing data had been collated and gaps within the survey area were identified. A survey was conducted of the areas for which further data and information was needed. The survey included acoustic track data and groundtruthing (i.e. drop-down video and grab sampling). Particle size analysis (PSA) was also undertaken. The data was then used to assign biotopes and to fill gaps in the existing knowledge. Finally, all of the data presented is considered in the context of the overall report aim - to assess the sites suitability as a SAC. |
