Metadata: 2010 - 2012, Partrac, Blyth Demonstration Site, Baseline Coastal Processes Assessment
Abstract:
National Renewable Energy Centre (NaREC) has commissioned Natural Power Consultants Limited to undertake assessments of meteorological/oceanographic (metocean) and coastal processes relating to the development of the Blyth Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) Demonstration Project off the coast of Northumberland. The development has the potential to affect both the metocean and coastal processes regimes in and around the development area. Effects may range from short to long term, and the assessment will consider timescales up to 25 years. The developer requires an understanding of the magnitude and significance of these effects, with a view to implementing, where necessary, appropriate mitigation measures in order to minimise potential impacts and obtain consent to undertake the development.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2010 - 2012, Partrac, Blyth Demonstration Site, Baseline Coastal Processes Assessment |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Baseline Coastal Processes Assessment |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 0ec6a208-6632-4d3c-b55d-70c246cc8a77 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-87 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2010-10-29 |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | As is outlined in the above consulted guidance documentation, the general scope of the physical processes investigation and assessment is to assess the nature, magnitude and significance of potential changes that are a direct result of the construction, operation and decommissioning of the proposed Blyth Offshore Demonstration Project to the following: • Hydrodynamics (e.g. waves, tidal flows) • Sedimentology • Sedimentary environment • Geomorphology 6.2.6 During initial consultation and scoping there were a limited number of issues raised that went beyond compliance with the existing CEFAS guidance. Specific issues that relate to the proposed development are: • Evaluation of potential impacts upon any sensitive areas protected for their nature conservation value in proximity to the project; • Evaluation of impacts to areas identified in the Northumberland and North Tyneside Shoreline Management Plan 2 (SMP2) as being sensitive to change, where changes may impact upon the adopted preferred plan; • Evaluation of the proposal upon the likelihood of an increased requirement for dredging of the navigation channel at Blyth Harbour. |
